Raman Battachariyar hails from the holy town of Kumbakonam. He started his life as a priest, performing poojas in a temple . Later he took up Astrology as a whole time profession following the footsteps of his ancestors.

He learnt astrology from his father Sri. T. Padmanaba Battachariyar at the tender age of 16. He is the third generation astrologer. He is independently practicing the art of predictive astrology from the age of sixteen. He knows Indian system, Vakiya Panjangam, Numerology and Vasthu. He received Upadhesam from his father and became a Hanuman Upasakar.
